Faculty Research Fund Guidelines
Purpose of the Fund
The SCOSA Faculty Research Fund is designed to:
- Support the dissemination of research involving older adult participants or research focused on the aging process. Older adults must constitute a significant portion of the sample.
- Offset essential research costs associated with:
- Publishing scholarly work on older adults or aging, or
- Attending conferences related to research on older adults or aging.
- Support faculty in obtaining critical skills that are central to the completion of a research project on older adults or aging.
- Workshop/training fees.
- Consultant fees.
The goal of this funding is to increase scholarly output in the field of aging by Stockton faculty.
Eligibility
The fund is open to current ΢ÃÜè faculty, including full-time or part-time tenured/tenure-track, NTTP, visiting, or adjunct faculty.
Available Funding for 2025-2026 Academic Year
- Total annual fund: $12,000 per academic year.
- Awards are subject to the availability of funds.
- Maximum individual award: $1,500.
- Faculty may submit a second funding request after January 1, if funds remain.

The application form and supporting documentation will be submitted by the system to SCOSA.
Review Process
- A three-member committee consisting of the Dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, a SCOSA representative, and a faculty member outside SCOSA who is appointed by the Dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences will review requests in the order they are received. Reviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted.
- In cases where a conflict of interest arises, the SCOSA Director and/or the Gerontology Minor Coordinator will serve as an alternate committee member.
- Each submission will be evaluated to determine whether it meets the funding criteria and/or demonstrates a clear and compelling need for the requested support.
Applications will be accepted through April 15, pending the availability of funds.
Applicants will be notified about the decision on their application within 10 business days of the application’s submission.
Funding Conditions
- Funding is limited to activities completed during the academic year in which the award was made.
- Applicants must demonstrate that funding from other applicable internal sources has been either:
- Expended or
- Sought but denied
A list of internal funding applications and associated decisions is required as part of the application.
- Funding deliverables:
- Recipients are expected to present their research at SCOSA’s Celebration of Aging Research during the spring semester.
- Fund recipients with direct conflicts who are unable to attend SCOSA’s Celebration of Aging Research must submit the Report of Funding outcomes form no later than June 15, 2026.
- Recipients who fail to provide the expected funding deliverables by the deadline will be ineligible for future funding.
Fund Disbursement
- Funds will be transferred from SCOSA’s Fund to the recipient’s School for distribution.
- Receipts or quotes for all expenditures must be submitted to SCOSA before funds will be distributed.
